NHI price listing and business diversification
In the new system under the leadership of the third president, Tsumura Juntendo’s 33 prescription Kampo drugs were listed in the National Health Insurance Drug Price List and used in medical institutions as health insurance-covered drugs.
As a result, Juntendo's long-cherished wish for the resurgence of Kampo medicine was fulfilled.
In 1983, a new plant was completed in Ibaraki. In 1988, the company name was changed to Tsumura & Co. and the logo was renewed. However, Tsumura's financial situation deteriorated significantly just before its 100th anniversary in 1993. Tsumura's management was at a crossroads due to rapid business diversification implemented during the bubble economy period and corporate scandals.

Japan-China exchange started
The Chairperson visited China for the first time to negotiate the stable supply of crude drug ingredients. He met the Chinese government's health minister in Beijing. He also met with China Native Produce and Livestock Import-Export Corporation to negotiate specifics and details.

International Kampo Symposium
Commemorating its 90th anniversary, Tsumura held an international Kampo symposium and a party.
Ibaraki Plant started
The new plant in Ibaraki began full-scale operation.

Total of 129 prescription Kampo drugs on the NHI List
Six of Tsumura’s prescription Kampo products were added to the National Health Insurance Drug Price List, bringing the total number of health insurance-covered Kampo drugs to 129.

A new logo replaced the image of Princess Chujo that had been used since the company's founding.

Shenzhen Tsumura Medicine Co., Ltd. established
Shenzhen Tsumura Medicine Co., Ltd. was established as a sourcing base to procure crude drug ingredients in China.
